Trees for Kids

What a FUN week we have had here at Natural Plus! Thanks to Bob Berggren, with the City of Mason City, we had the privilege of being part of a program called Trees for Kids. It's a great opportunity to teach our kids in the community about the importance of planting trees, and to get some more trees planted in our communities. Planting trees has so many benefits (if you need reminding, we talked about some of them HERE

On Monday, we went to Hoover Elementary and talked about the types of trees we were going to plant. The kids come up with the best "questions" and I always leave the schools with sore cheeks from smiling and laughing so much. The kids are so excited and proud that they are planting trees to improve our community!

Then on Wednesday, we got to help the fourth graders plant the trees along 2nd Ave in Mason City.

We had a great demonstration from the DNR on how to properly plant a tree.

Taking part in these projects is one of my favorite parts of owning Natural Plus. I love seeing the excitement from the kids and I hope years down the road, they remember doing this and can come back and see the trees they planted in our town.

Many communities in our area have applied for and received the Trees for Kids grants, that fund these opportunities for kids to learn about trees, and have hands on experience planting them around our towns.

If you’re interested in learning more about the grant, the DNR website is a great place to start.
